Apple - Caught In A Time Loop
Apple is approaching a critical period very similar to its past stumblings, recall Riddley Scott's 1984 launched the successful Macintosh, which spawned the concept of Mac evangelism. Well, in a couple years, 1985-1987, Apple fired Jobs, who then sold roughly 6 million of Apple shares and agreed not to hire Apple employees for his NEXT venture.

It was a schizophrenic moment, a company refusing its own DNA, Jobs. What made matters worse was the poorly executed release of Apple IIGS. In hindsight, what followed was predictable, the stock tanked.
Once again, after a considerable stock run-up, in 1993, Apple then replaced Sculley as the CEO, the stock tanked and didn't recover till 1999.
Perhaps, its Apples tinkering nature that triggered the law of diminishing return or Apples fear of mainstream. Whatever the reason, its historical performance in similar circumstances wasn't satisfactory.
